About This Site
Hello, I’m Toshi, and I operate several smart hotels in Kamakura under the brand “Toshi’s Place.” Currently, we run three accommodations: “Yuigahama 千世”, “Villa Kamakura” and “BRB KAMAKURA HASE.” I also assist guests at our glamping facility “郷音-G.O.A.T-” ,offering comfortable and flexible stays at each location.
All of our hotels operate without on-site staff, but instead, we emphasize a unique form of hospitality through well-designed amenities and private spaces. Since we don’t offer traditional person-to-person service, we’ve created our own travel guide to help guests fully enjoy their stay—offering insights that typical accommodations might not provide.
Many of our guests come from overseas and may not be familiar with Japanese history or culture. Concepts such as the “Kamakura Shogunate” or “Minamoto no Yoritomo” are often entirely new to them. That’s why our guides are carefully written in simple, easy-to-understand language, even in the Japanese version—designed for those experiencing Kamakura for the first time.
This site aims to provide a clear overview of Kamakura before diving into detailed information. We’ve created a custom tourist area map with indexed spots labeled in alphabetical order, making trip planning easier for those unfamiliar with the geography. While the guide is primarily intended for our hotel guests, it’s freely available for anyone visiting Kamakura.
For those who wish to explore deeper, I also manage a separate media site called “The Complete Kamakura Hiking Guide,” which introduces seasonal trails and includes historical and cultural commentary.
The information provided here is based on firsthand visits and is regularly updated to reflect the latest conditions. By blending key tourist spots with local perspectives not found on official websites, we strive to share an authentic, real-world Kamakura.
Please note that this site focuses solely on sightseeing information—we don’t cover dining or shopping. However, guests staying with us can access a private Google Map link with my personal restaurant recommendations.
We operate this project with the hope of making your Kamakura journey more free, fun, and memorable.

[Biography]
After graduating from university, I worked at a major Japanese SI vendor and a global software company. In 2000, I joined the founding team of Salesforce Japan, serving as both Chief Product Technologist and Executive Officer, helping establish cloud computing in Japan.
As an expert in cloud technology and cybersecurity, I participated in various research and policy committees for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). My contributions included shaping policies on IT security audits, cloud service rights, data center strategies, and international frameworks.
[Key Committees]
METI: Committee on IT Security Audits (2010), Cloud Security Audit Study Group (2013), Cybersecurity Infrastructure Development (2014–2015), and more
MIC: Committee on Cloud User Rights (2011), International Strategy Committee for Cloud Computing (2012–), among others
Around 2010, I also appeared frequently in the media—on programs such as “IT LIVE” and “Prime News”—promoting the societal value of cloud technologies.
Recently, I’ve been applying advanced technologies such as cloud and IoT to the tourism industry, operating smart, unmanned hotels in Kamakura, Kanagawa. Through this tech-driven approach, we aim to create a new kind of travel experience—merging tourism and technology to promote sustainable, community-driven travel.
